A Chilean study adapted and validated the Gluten-Free Perceived Nutrition Environment Measures Survey, known as NEMS-P-GF.
The tool was evaluated in adults with celiac disease to assess their perceptions of the availability, accessibility, and characteristics of gluten-free foods in their environment.
The research also examined the association between the perceived food environment and adherence to a gluten-free diet.
The authors conclude that the adapted version shows preliminary evidence of good psychometric properties and may provide useful contextual information for research and public health strategies.
